Mexico Auto Production Surges 85% in March 2010

According to recent reports, Mexico's auto industry continued recovering at a constant speed in the month of March, with production, exports and domestic sales all climbing from the year-ago month.

Moreover, as per the statement released by the Mexican Auto Industry Association, or AMIA, “Production was up 85% from March 2009 at 190,091 units.”

Further, it said that exports increased 61 percent to 163,641 units, and domestic sales, which have been lagging the rebound in external demand, increased by 1.8 percent to 64,414 units.

AMIA said, “Exports to the U. S. rose 45% last month from a year ago, while exports to other places, including Canada, Asia and Latin America, more than doubled.”

Meanwhile, the auto industry, which is said to be country’s largest single manufacturing sector, has been showinga strong rebound from the last year fall, when output declined by as much as half in some months from 2008 levels.
