Wearing glasses is ‘significant’

According to a research, many people believe that wearing glasses boosts their chance of getting job.

About 43% think glasses make people look more intelligent, while 40% think after wearing glasses they do not need to look the part at an interview and they definitely have a chance of getting a job.

About 6% of people wear plain glasses for their fashion purpose, and 9% think they gave a professional look.

Dr. Susan Blakeney, Optometric Advisor to the College of Optometrists, said, “It's great to see a shift in how we perceive glasses. However, it's important to remember that regardless of fashion trends, wearing spectacles is about seeing clearly and comfortably - not just appearance.”

There is a vast range of spectacles in the market today so it should be easy to find something to suit everyone.

It is commonly found that people often develop more self confidence and change their behaviour when they put on glasses, which could in itself improve their chances at interview.

In fact, businesses want to employ intelligent staff and the idea that intelligent people wear glasses is an old stereotype that has not gone away.
