Mexico lost to Brazil by 3-2 in the four-nation women’s soccer tournament in Sao Paulo to lead the positions on 6 points.
In another match, China lost to Chile 1-0 but still managed to share the second place with Chile on 3 points while Mexico remained at the bottom after facing two successive defeats.
In the match played between China and Chile, the only goal was hit by Chile striker Daniela Mancilla. Now, Chile will face Mexico in the third and last group match on December 16.
Brazil commenced the match powerfully by gaining their first goal in the 3rd minute of the match, when Marta found the back of the net and only two minutes later, the team doubled the lead when Cristiane hit the ball through two defenders for Erika who tapped it into the lower right corner.
Mexico managed to hit the first goal in the 28th minute of the match when Monica Ocampo capitalized on an error to blast the ball past Brazilian goalie Andreia.
Brazil scored their third goal in the 68th minute when Cristiane headed in a cross from Marta and then Mexico scored their second goal in the 72nd minute of the match.
Now, Brazil will play with China in the last qualifier, and a tie will be enough for Brazil to reach to the final.
